The Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge and Trail, one of Salem's newest local attractions, makes it easier than ever to explore Salem's vast expanse of parks and natural areas. The new bicycle and pedestrian bridge in Riverfront Park (practically in our own backyard) connects Historic Downtown Salem to miles and miles of trails, green space and wildlife viewing areas. Pedestrians and cyclists can now explore Minto-Brown Island Park, Riverfront Park and Wallace Marine Park with greater ease! This magnificent bridge is part of a long-term vision for the community and has been met with praise from locals and visitors alike since officially opening in August with a grand celebration. The new bridge was recently named 2017 Project of the Year in the Structures Category for $5 - $25 million projects by the Oregon Chapter American Public Works Association (APWA).
